Quality Management Systems
ISO 9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements that an organization can use to establish, implement, maintain, and improve its quality management system (QMS). Industry-specific standards have been developed, based on ISO 9001, that have additional requirements unique to that industry. IATF 16949 specifies requirements that the automotive industry meets throughout its supply chain. AS9100 provides requirements for the aerospace industry. Other industries such as oil and gas production and medical device manufacturing have also created ISO 9001-based standards.
Brown & Associates offers a core curriculum for ISO 9001 and other industry-specific quality management systems including IATF 16949 and AS9100. Training for other ISO 9001 based management systems is available for customized training.
Overview - 1-day training class
Participants learn the requirements of the standard and the relevant terminology. Requirements for management commitment and participation are addressed. Emphasis is placed on the management system requirements for policies, processes, and continual improvement.
Internal Auditing - 2-day training class
Participants learn to audit their own organization's management system using a systematic approach based on the auditing guidelines in ISO 19011. The auditing process - preparation, performance, reporting, and closure - is demonstrated through in-class exercises. This training may be customized to use the organization's own processes and documentation for in-class training.
Internal Auditor Mentoring - 1 additional training day for Internal Auditing
When an organization doesn't have experienced auditors to mentor the internal auditor trainees, an additional day may be added to the Internal Auditing training class so that auditors can apply their new skills to an actual audit of the organization while being coached by the instructor.
Employee Overview - 2-hour training class
This session brings an overview to all employees. The presentation and handout materials are provided at an appropriate reading and technical level for all employees, regardless of background.
